School of Humanities

Aiming at carrying forward the humanistic spirit and cultivating professionals of both literature and history, the School of Humanities at Hangzhou Normal University has three departments: Chinese Literature and Language, History and Tourism management. There are six majors of full-time undergraduates: Chinese Literature and Language, History, Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Humanistic Education, Tourism Management, Exhibition Economy and Management.

The school has a faculty of 84 members, including 69 full-time teachers with 24 professors and 35 associate professors. The proportion of senior titles is 85.5 percent. 35 teachers have been awarded doctorates, making up 50.7 percent of total teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 1 State Department special allowance expert, 1 Qianjiang scholar, 1 Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert of Zhejiang Province, 5 ˇ°151 professionalsˇ± above the second-level in Zhejiang Province, 6 top young and middle-aged academic leaders in Zhejiang Province, 1 outstanding expert at the second term in Hangzhou, 1 ˇ°131 professionalˇ± in the first-level and 8 in the second-level in Hangzhou.

High quality of Discipline Construction

The School of Humanities has the key disciplines of Chinese literature and language and History of Zhejiang Province, key subject of Chinese modern history of Zhejiang Province, key art research base of History Research Center of Zhejiang Province, provincial innovative team of history, provincial teaching team of Chinese modern literature, key disciplines of Chinese philology and Chinese ancient literature of Hangzhou, key institutes of Hangzhou Institute, Research Center of Chinese Ancient Literature, Chinese Modern Literature and Cultural Study Centre, Zhejiang History and Culture Institute, Language Research Institute. It also has 9 postgraduate majors, including Chinese philology,, Chinese modern literature, Chinese ancient literature, Literary theory, Chinese Ancient Document Study, Chinese modern history, special field of history, Chinese curriculum and its teaching, Study of arts and culture. In the past two years, more and more graduates participate the entrance exams for postgraduate schools. In 2009, 21 students were admitted as postgraduates, with 9 by "211" university. In 2010, 32 students were admitted as postgraduates, with 16 by "211" university.
